The pigs follow that up by taking a tour of other books. When the pigs move on to the fairy tale, the black and white illustrations are intricate and complex. They become more juvenile, simple, and bright–much like you would see in a book for a toddler. The illustrations change again when the pigs enter the Hey, Diddle Diddle book. The pigs take on a more life-like quality. But things change when the first pig is blown out of the book. The book starts off with very traditional illustrations. The illustrations in this book show off Wiesner talent. That evolves into a nursery rhyme and the books ends as the traditional tale. There is the traditional tale of The Three Little Pigs which evolves into a cartoon like adventure with speech bubbles. The are many writing styles in this book. The pigs take control of the situation early on and children will be excited to be along on the adventure. This story is a retelling of a traditional tale.

But what will happen when that pesky wolf shows back up? The three pigs fly on a paper airplane and then find themselves in the middle of other books including the nursery rhyme Hey Diddle Diddle and a traditional fairy tale with a dragon. Together with the pig who lived in the brick house, they escape from the traditional tale and the hijinks begin.

The same thing happens to the pig in the stick house. But in this story, he blows the pig straight out the book. So the wolf huffs and he puffs and he blows the house down. There was a pig who lived in a straw house. This retelling of the classic story, The Three Little Pigs, starts off in the traditional manner.
